In efforts to bring MSU student voices into the conversation about gender-based violence prevention, the POE department created this standing student advisory council called Student Voices for Prevention Initiatives (SVPI). The purpose of SVPI is to garner student feedback in order to cultivate culturally informed prevention initiatives and programs for MSU's undergraduate students.

SVPI was developed in January 2021 as a mechanism for consistent student feedback and a platform for students to utilize throughout the academic year.

SVPI has 15 seats each semester for student representatives. Each student member is also a member of a Registered Student Organization (RSO) at MSU and serves as a liaison between the advisory group and their RSO. SVPI meets monthly with the POE Assistant Director to review current undergraduate student programming and provide their feedback.

SVPI is an excellent leadership opportunity for student advocacy in the topic of relationship and sexual violence and the intersection of identity. Student participants have the opportunity to leave a lasting, positive impact on MSU's campus for years to come.
